What It Means to Be a Gender-Free Hair Salon
We’re not here for the binary. We’re here for you.
Let’s be real: the hair industry has been stuck in the past for way too long. Charging based on “men’s” or “women’s” cuts, making assumptions about your hair because of how you present, and handing out side-eyes when someone asks for something outside the norm? Yeah. We’re not about that life.
At We Fucking Love Your Hair, we’ve been gender-free since day one. Here’s what that actually means, and why it matters.
We Don’t Price by Gender—Ever
We charge by the hour, based on the time and expertise your hair requires. That’s it. We don’t have a “women’s cut” or a “men’s cut” on our menu, because hair doesn’t have a gender, and you shouldn’t be charged more (or less) because of how you identify.
Whether you’ve got a buzzcut or hair down to your ass, we’ll give you the time and attention it takes to get the look you want, with no weird upcharges or assumptions.
We’re Not “Gender Neutral.” We’re Gender Free
This isn’t about being bland or middle-of-the-road. It’s about creating a space where everyone is seen, affirmed, and celebrated.
That includes trans folks, nonbinary babes, gender fluid cuties, masculine-presenting women, feminine-presenting men, and everyone outside or in between. We’re not erasing identity, we’re honoring it, without using it to define your service.
Our Stylists Are Trained to Listen, Not Assume
When you sit in our chair, we’re not making guesses about what “type” of haircut you should get based on how you look. We’re asking:
How do you want to feel in your hair?
What’s your maintenance vibe?
What’s working and what isn’t?
We co-create your look together. While how you identify might inform your choices → and if it does, cool. But it won’t dictate them.
Safety, Always
We know the salon world hasn’t always felt safe for everyone. If you’ve ever had a stylist misgender you, talk over you, or give you something you didn’t ask for… we’re so sorry you went through that.
Our space was built to be different. Our team is trained in trauma-informed, LGBTQIA+ affirming practices. We’re always learning, always improving, and always doing the work to make sure this salon is a safe, affirming, and comfortable place to be.
Why It Matters
Because the way you show up in the world is personal.
Because pricing and services shouldn’t be based on a binary that doesn’t include everyone.
Because a haircut should feel affirming, exciting, and empowering, not uncomfortable or performative.
Because your hair is about you. Period.
Hair Without Assumptions. Hair Without Bullshit.
So yeah—gender-free isn’t just a label for us. It’s a practice. It’s part of how we make people feel seen. It’s how we help you feel like yourself in your hair, no matter where you are on your journey.
